Salento, Puglia I.G.P., Italy
An elegant and flavourful Primitivo from Salento, in Puglia, known as the heel of southern Italy’s “boot”.
Bright ruby red.
Highly perfumed, showing ripe plums, cherry jam, cocoa and allspice.
Dry and smooth with soft tannins. Very flavourful cherry jam and plum on the palate, with delicious notes of cocoa, baking spice and fennel, finishing with a lingering vanilla note.
This delicious wine can be enjoyed with cheese such as aged parmesano and it’s excellent with prosciutto or with a pasta dish. I paired it with Andouille sausage from @wellington butchery and grilled sweet potatoes - absolutely delicious! It stood up well to the spicy sausage and added a fruity note to balance it. Excellent value, too!
I'll definitely buy this one again!
